Magic Update Instructions

Use the text area on the Magic Update form to enter the text which is used to update the designated. There are three update options availabel on a drop menu. Selecting "Replace existing text" will replace the current entry in the designated area (between the gold or blue bars on the demo page) in the selected HTML document. Selecting "Insert before existing text" will place the new text before the orginal text, leaving the orginal text unmodified. "Insert after existing text" will place the new text after the orginal text, leaving the orginal text unmodified.

You can enter simple plain text. If you would like some special effects you can use any HTML tags you may already know. A few of the more common HTML tags are listed below.

To enter a line break (Enter Key) place a <BR> in your text. If you want a paragraph break (blank line) a place a <P> in your text. If you want your text in bold, place it between the <B> and </B> tags. If you would like italicized text, enter it between the <I> and </I> tags.

There are four style options for the new text, centering, bolding, italics, and preformating. They may be used in conbination.

Eight different text colors may be selected. The "Default" selection will used the text color specified in the BODY tag or black is no color is specified in the BODY tag.

Text size may also be selected. Selecting default will result in the update text being the same size as specified in the original document.

When you have finished entering and editing text, click on the submit button just under the text entry area. Please allow a minute or two for processing before you take any additional action. A blue page with update information will appear when the process is completed. If you don't like the looks of the finished product, you can redue the process any number of times.

When you return to the original document, click on the reload button to see the results of your action. You may have to clear your disk cache to see the updated results. To clear the disk cache if you are using Netscape, drop the Options menu, next select Network Preferences and finally, click on Clear Disk Cache Now button.
